We sit and we wait most of the year, it is usually either the wind we hear during the winter, or in the summer the long flat spell, which means that we head into the harbour or paddle up and down the coast, but February is fast becoming the month of swell.

Corran Addison, the owner of Imagine Eco stand up paddle boards, is currently in Oahu, Hawaii. While most of us spent valentines day in a more sedate fashion, Corran decided to tackle Waimea, stand up paddle surfing. He tells us all about it.

It is easy to forget sometimes that we are at the very beginning with this sport. I am sure most stand up paddlers can recall that first time out on a board, I certainly can (thanks to Andy Cooper for that !) and if you have never tried stand up paddling, but are curious to give it a go this is a great article about that experience. Paul Burgess and his paddling buddy Kevin decided to become the first people to stand up paddle around Hayling Island. Paul tells us all about the experience.

John Hibbard & Anthony Cooper are the first two stand up paddlers to take part in, and complete the 125 mile Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race. Its a huge achievement in terms of stamina and a fantastic first for the two SUPers. John tells us all about it.

Tez has had an epiphany and loves stand up paddle surfing, but has also discovered the lonelyness of the long distance paddle surfer. One of the advantages of the sport is that access to remote off shore breaks is possible with stand up paddle surfing, however it often means you are surfing alone.
