Danny Ching and Candice Appleby are Battle of the Paddle Winners 2011 - Full Results

California's distance paddling king Danny Ching returned to the winner's podium at the Rainbow Sandals Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle, taking first in the 10-mile stand-up paddle (SUP) race. Dominant female paddler Candice Appleby (Hawaii), who took first in yesterday's women's Elite race, won the women's division. A total of 230 racers took part in today's distance race. There were more than 900 race entries over the course of the weekend.

Windfest, Poole September 10th & 11th 2011

The weather forecast claimed there would be gales and storms were on the way, so it was looking like it could be a windy weekend, great for windsurfing and kitesurfing, but what about SUP?

Saturday morning, dark skies and winds from the South West would make it an interesting paddle but by circumnavigating Brownsea Island in an anti-clockwise, which would give shelter from the wind for part of course, the BSUPA Round Brownsea Island race was on.

Custard Point launches a two event Stand Up Paddleboard Series!

News has reached us that Tim Mellors of Custard Point has set up a couple of SUP events as part of the UK Pro Surf Tour. The events are the first two weekends in October, so not long to get training! We get far more race events that surf in the UK so it is great to see, nice one TIm! UK Pro Surf Association is pleased to announce a new series of surf events on the UK Pro Surf Tour. The best Stand Up Paddleboard surfers from across the UK will participate in this new series of events for points and prize money on the Custard Point SUP Pro Series.

Standup Paddleboarding at Windfest 2011, Poole Sept 9 – 11th 2011

British Stand Up Paddleboard Association are pleased to announce schedule of events for this years Windfest.

As the popularity of the sport growths so have the number of SUP related activities and competitions. There is now something to for everyone, from the complete beginner, through to weekend enthusiast and finally competitive paddlers.

Use It or Loose It

Can't quite believe that it's been almost five months since my last post here - loads of reasons for that March and April were just nuts. The swell just did not die down and I was so busy making a pig of myself that to be honest I just could not be bothered to post.

My new (not now) Mana 9'0 was my turn to board throughout the run of swell and once I got dialled in I almost stopped missing the 9'3", not quite though.

Another great event from Dave Samuels and the guys at Paddle Round the Pier Brighton. Sadly the stand up paddle enduro race did not have enough entrants to run, however this event is still the best in the UK to come and see the latest and greatest stand up paddle products and talk to the people behind them.
